“30-50% of students with ADHD will be held back at least once.”
When I see this statistic, I don’t immediately see ADHD as the cause, but see it as a result of other possibilities. I also wonder what the classroom environment of the student is. Students in school deal with a lot in their daily classroom lives, and they are in a social environment in the very beginning. I think this is worth remembering as a teacher. Students going to school are being asked to assimilate themselves and adapt to a great number of stimuli. They are also being asked to conform to certain ways of learning that may not be meaningful to them.
